Occupational Health and Safety Standard

ISO 45001:2018 specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, and gives guidance for its use, to enable organizations to provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work-related injury and ill health, as well as by proactively improving its OH&S performance.

ISO 45001:2018 is applicable to any organization that wishes to establish, implement and maintain an OH&S management system to improve occupational health and safety, eliminate hazards and minimize OH&S risks (including system deficiencies), take advantage of OH&S opportunities, and address OH&S management system nonconformities associated with its activities.

QEC UK Ltd have professional and Competent ISO 45001 Auditors, who will visit your business or organisation to conduct an impartial audit; validate conformity of your Occupational Health and Safety Management System to the standard and recommend an organisation or business (if warranted) for certification.

The benefits of implementing an OH&S system

  • Improving Occupational health of the organisation.

  • Standardising Occupational Safety Standards.

  • Developing and implementing an Occupational Health and Safety Policy.

  • Developing and implementing Occupational Health and Safety Policy Objectives.

  • Increased awareness of Occupational Health and Safety risks.

  • Understanding Occupational Health and Safety performance and looking for continual improvement.

Companies that take OH&S seriously clearly demonstrate that they are responsible employers, which in turn makes them attractive for customers and suppliers to partner with!

The ISO 45001 certification process

The ISO 45001 certification process involves two audits/assessments.

The first is a desktop review, sometimes referred to as a stage 1 audit and it assesses your current processes to identify any areas that need improving.

The second stage is an evidence-based audit, sometimes referred to as a stage 2. This determines if those areas have been improved and whether your EMS meets the standards of ISO 45001.

How long does the ISO 45001 Certification last

The ISO 45001 certification is valid for 3 years subject to an annual surveillance audit.

Auditing and certification at your convenience

Some businesses are put off seeking ISO 45001 certification because they think it will disrupt their business.

The pandemic has served to fast-track the move to a blended approach to auditing and certification, with much of the process now being completed remotely, minimizing the need for always requiring site visits and associated disruption.
